time that I have owned it I have done about 72k miles mostly commuting and it has only let me down once - when the clutch cable broke! The previous owner told me it was a Motorsport version because it has the colour coordinating wheels, but I don`t know if that is correct - I`ve not seem many others about. About the bike: Condition – I would describe as fair to good, it`s been kept undercover most of its life so the paintwork is reasonable. It has been used for commuting during the winter so the exposed aluminium components have suffered as a result. As mentioned in the listing this was professionally converted to 1000cc (from 800cc) in 2003 at approx 50,100 mls (odometer currently reading 51220) so not really even run in yet. This is a popular, proven and worthwhile upgrade. been ridden throughout the winter. However, its in very good mechanical condition and needs nothing doing to provide you with reliable daily transport or to tackle longer runs. Although the smallest, engine wise, of the post 1985 BMW twins it revs freely, accelerates briskly, is capable of cruising at motorway speeds and is smoother than either the R80 or R100 models. It returns around 47mpg when commuting and well over 50 on a run. I`ve owned it for three years and believe the mileage to be around 55,000. It has been regularly and recently serviced. During my ownership it has had the following: Valve guides replaced Full stainless exhaust system fitted New wiring loom Fork seals Control cables renewed Coil and HT leads replaced It would not take much work to make this into a very presentable bike if thats what you want. The paintwork is OK but has been badly touched up in a few places and the frame has been hand painted in places with Smoothrite up to keep on top of the rust. with full set of BMW panniers complete with liner bags the side boxes liners are by Mane event and the top box liners is a genuine BMW one, it also has fitted a Starcom1 intercom (sorry no headsets included) which is linked up to a Kenwood Radio cassette, which uses a battery powered remote on the left hand bar to change volume and station , which you can see in the photo.Tyres are michelin road pilot 2 front one is new rear has about 1000-2000 left on it, exhaust is a bit raspy but no leaks. Also fitted is a Powercommander to sort out some of the fueling issues that these bikes have, could do with a proper dyna tune but i found the Basic settings sorted it for me.
