It has two of the best modifications these bikes could have; in fact they have turned this bike into the bike that BMW should have built at the time. Rear rack and luggage rails and new panniers purchased for that only trip to Oban ( bike great but weather was **** , metal testing? Overall in good condition for the year and blemishes to right hand side (care of the Isle of Man steam packet coming home from TT). Never given me any problems and the engine runs smoother than my Triumph. I could waffle on,but would just say, worth a viewing if you are looking for a bike that needs to be ridden and not just polished and can handle salt on the road with a quick power wash without the sudden warranty corrosion claims on newer models !!! and shaft drive. The bike runs and rides superb, starts first touch, pulls well and the abs works. However it has a problem in that it jumps out of second gear when given full throttle. It has only done 14 miles since MOT and everything else seems fine on it but it is being sold as spares repairs due to the 2nd gear issue which is the a shame as it`s otherwise a good honest bike. The gearbox and engine are separate on this model so probably an easy fix for someone who can take the box off I have been told it`s probably just a worn or bent selector. It could actually be used as it is as all other gears function perfectly and the problem can be avoided by changing up to third earlier, I would have no concerns jumping on it and riding across Europe as it is. The condition is overall good, although as with any ex operational bike there are some blemishes such as a couple of holes in the front of fairing where lights have been mounted and the odd touched up mark but overall a smart machine for the year and excellent value. The rear pod has an area for storage or it can be removed by the buyer and converted back to a standard dual seat. This is a very comfortable touring bike with 112,300 miles on the clock with a good service history including a short motor at 66,000, so engine has years of life left in it and is still a quick bike for the size. This is a Special Edition (no 1047) and these models are getting more and more rare. There are a couple of bad points I have to mention; exhaust has a slight blow but this is a very cheap fix (didn`t affect recent MOT) and has been considered in the expected price, both wing mirror pods do have scuffs where it looks like previous owners have tried to maneuver through narrow gaps (beware these bikes are huge!), also the electric windscreen has a loose connection so needs attention but is a very easy fix and doesn`t affect the bike. The bike comes with a full colour coded BMW touring kit and Z mounts for the panniers ( slight scuff on left pannier nothing major), MOT till may 2011 and Taxed until the end of September 2010.
